I have a 5 gallon tank of gas that I a) forgot to add additive to and b) left outside all winter (New England winter).

I'm guessing it's a bad idea to try this in my lawn mower, but in what's the best way to get rid of it. Is it going to hurt anything if I just toss it in my car when I have a tank of "fresh" gas?

Or am I stuck waiting for hazardous waste pickup day?

Go ahead and add it to your car's tank - provided the car is fairly full already. Chances are that the fuel you have isn't too stale since northeast climate in the winter isn't too harsh on gasoline. The summers are a different story though. Next time, let me suggest only buying 2 gallons at a time and use stabilizer regularly. For every day use, I suggest 1/4 ounce stabilizer per gallon of gas.

This was one of those odd cases where we were running a log splitter so we had no idea how much we'd actually need.
