Comparing lawn drain systems

I intend to put in a lawn drainage system this year and would like feedback on the advantages/disadvantages of a traditional french drain versus one of the newer systems incorporating stacked plastic piping such as the Multi-Flow system. The manufacturers of the newer systems claim that they are less costly, less prone to failure, and easier to install. I want whatever will rid my lawn of standing water.
