I need some help with stubborn wallpaper. I believe this is vinyl paper and there was enver any sizing used under it.
I can't seem to get the water or remover to penetrate. I tired the typical paper scoring tool and also tried an exacto knife. I let the remover sit from anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. It just isn't working well. The biggest probelm is the bottom of the wall where the paste must have settled during installation. That part has a tendancy to rpp the drywall paper off the drywall.

What a freaking mess. This is the last part of my kitchen remodel jobg and it is turning out to be a nightmare.

Any help with this is appreciated. I may try a steamer tonight but, I hate the mess they make and I don't want to ruin my new floor inthe process. Yes I know, I should have done this before the floor.

Any help with this is appreciated.

Sounds like the paper was hung over bare drywall. If so you couldn't have asked for a harder job. I believe you are going about it the right way. If you use a steamer make sure you protect your floor well. I believe I would do the best I could with out the steamer and then skim coat the walls with drywall mud. Any paper that you can't get loose most likely won't come loose after mudding and painting. Wish you lots of luck but I know it takes more hard work than luck.

Thanks. This is my 6th week of working on the kitchen project. I just want to get it done and this moved me away from the light at the end of the tunnel.
The only thing I didn't replace was the cabinets.

Actually the wall was primed and painted but, the stuff has been up there for 15 years. It was our first wallpaper project and missing the sizing step was a mistake. No more wallpaper in this house. Thank God.

I guess I will just purservere.

in my house. My wife loved wallpaper. After I had her scrape one wall she now hates wallpaper and won't even consider it in the house.

Mission complete :)

Perfect.
I spent 2 days skim coating the mess. I have it primed and now it's my wifes turn to finish it up. I have to admit that drywall patching isn't my strong suite but it actually turned out ok. Almost done!
Thanks.
