Several days ago my wife and I finished installing 480 sq ft of laminate flooring in our house. We were very pleased with the results and also the cost. And by the way thanks to all those who posted thier experiences on this forum. It helped tremendously, as I read every post before we started. The fifteen minute video we watched just didn't answer alot of our questions. We purchased the floorng from Sam's Club for $1.53 a sq ft. It was Uniboard Lock and Seal 9MM flooring with a 25 year warranty. We picked the Jefferson Oak style and color. This evening we happened to be in Lowe's and I had a piece of the flooring with me to compare with stain shades. As we walked by the flooring section my wife stated "There's our floor design in Pergo".
I was surprised to see the exact same design and color n Pergo's 8MM 30 year warranty flooring. When I say excat I mean the laminated design was the same down to the grain and color. There was a piece of the Pergo on top of the box so I compared it to the piece of Uniboard brand flooring in my hand and they appeared to be the same except the attched underlayment was a different color and texture. So did Uniboard and Pergo buy the laminate design from the same manufacturer or did Pergo buy from Uniboards beand new factory in Canada. I have personally witnessed circular saw blades being made and pasted with different names but I don't know if the same applies to flooring. Anybody got the inside scoop on this?

It applies to anything you can buy!!!

Your canned food comes to mind. Manufacturers adhesives are rarely made by them.

Most of Home Depots flooring is private labelled, and can be found with another name on it elsewhere.

Hello JakGA,

I totally believe you. I also had the Jefferson Oak installed in my family room and kitchen about 2-1/2 yrs ago. Last month I had water damage in the family room. Only approx 60 sq ft was distroyed.

Sam’s does not sell the Jefferson Oak any more. They only sell the Washington Oak online. I purchased a box to compare it. The shipping alone is averaging $15.00 per box. The Washington Oak is identical to the Jefferson Oak in appearances with the same underlayment. The pattens are identical. However, the locking system is different.

I have called Uniboard and they say that the Jefferson is discontinued. This means that they can not provide anyone with any more Jefferson Oak. I will have to redo the complete family room, which is about 380 sq ft, so that it may match the adjacent kitchen.

I am concern about any warranty, if they can not replace the Jefferson Oak. What do you think? Anyone got an answer about the Jefferson Oak? Thank you.
