fertilizing

My wife & I just recently purchased our first house near Milwaukee, WI. How often (and when throughout the year) should we fertilize our lawn? Also, what type of fertilizer is best to use for each time we fertilize? Thanks.

For where you are you should use Turf Builder with Halts about now to help prevent annual weed like crabgrass. Follow up in two months with TB plus 2, then TB plus insect control in the summer. Early fall use regular Turf Builder and late fall ( Oct. - Nov.) use Winterizer to prepare your lawn for the winter. Or if your area sells it purchase the 4-step program.
