I am researching gas cooktops to replace old type electric cooktop. Several questions. Is gas the best way to update? If so, what are the features that I should look at. I want a cooktop that has the grill/griddle feature and have been looking at a JENN-Aire. I would appreciate any advice. Pros/cons. Thanks. :o

Welcome TigerDunes to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Difficult, if not impossible question to answer. Very sugjective to personal opinions, etc. Appliance selection is just like any other product or service purchase. Boils down to personal choices and preferences, etc.

Within almost every price range there are several choices and selections, etc. Within each of these groups, each manufacturer offers features, quality, warranty and service claims they determine will sell their product.

Regardless of your personal choice, each product has to be selected by your individual selection process, needs and price range.

In my personal option, there isn't any one product better than the other. They all perform equally well and all require parts and service sometime during the products life expectancy and ownership. Select the one of your choice, install it, use it and maintain it well.

May be a good idea to read the consumers digest reports of the selected choices you have in mind. About the only method to obtain unbaised information. Also read the warranties provided by each manufacturer.
