i have a house built in 1946 there are harwwod floors throughout and i am remodeling the kitchen. There are 12x12 press and peel vinyl tiles over one piece of lanolieum flooring which has a black backing which is glued to the haradwood floor. I can get all the tile up but not the backing...what is going on. i would like to do the entire kitchen which is only 60 sq feet of flooring hohwever if unable iw ill settle doing only the entry way which is 10 sq feet.
i have only done a 12x12 inch piece and dont' want to go anyfurther without knowing what i am getting into. and if all else fails i plan to just use different and new press and peel tiles
Please help!!!!!!

If your concerns are asbestos, the only way to know what you are getting into is to have flooring and adhesive tested. Check with your local health department re: testing, restrictions for removal and disposal of asbestos floor products, and any recommendations for save removal. Asbestos fibers are not a health risk until they become airborne.
