We just bought a house that needs lots of work. The ceilings are textured (looks like popcorn style). I would like to paint them a creamy white to go with my trim (per Annette :thinker: ). However, in some of the bedrooms and bathroom the paint is cracked and flaking off, especially around the light fixtures (maybe someone added a new fixture and weakened the application?). Is this paintable or do I need to do some type of repair work (how? isn't there a spray on texture you can buy in a can?)

Muchas Gracias!
:)

It is not popcorn ceiling. It is a thin plaster with a sunburst design that is cracking and flaking in areas. I need to paint it but would need to repair the trouble spots first.

You will need to clean and repair those areas first. You can probablyduplicate the texture with thinned down drywall mud and a brush. Be sure to use enamel in the bath. Because of the moisture generated the walls and ceilng need to be well sealed to prevent damage.
