I have 2 sets of speakers in different rooms I connect to one receiver. Currently, I unplug one set and plug in the other to switch. Each set of speakers is 8 ohms so that is what the amp sees. I bought a wall mounted switch from parts express that will switch between A, B or A+B speakers. If each set of speakers has 8 ohms impedance, I understand that the A+B configuration is only 4 ohms. I read that in the A only or B only configurations, the speakers are still in parallel meaning that my impedance is 4 ohms. Why are they still in parallel? It seems the swich is doing the same thing that I am doing when I unplug one set and plug in another where the amp sees 8 ohms impedance.
