I am remodeling a bathroom and have ran into a question on insulating in the bath surround. I am installing new tile, backer board and a vapor barrier, can I install fiberglass insulation for sound reduction or am I possibly creating a problem down the road?

You can install insulation as a sound barrier, which is common practice. As far as a vapor barrier, it doesn't really matter if the wall separates two conditioned spaces. What really counts with surrounds is the water permeability of the surround itself.

Well, both sides may be conditioned, but the bathroom side will definately have a high humidity! I'd think a vapor barrier would still be a good idea to minimize the condensation within the wall cavities.
