Yes, I know that apple trees are traditionally grafted from original trees onto root stock. However, I would like to experiment with the local wild growing trees in my area to see if I can get a few seedling trees to grow on our new property. We live in the Adirondack Mts. of upstate NY, where the winters are long and harsh, and have had some bad luck with planting supposedly hardy fruit trees. I'm not looking to spend money on more failures, I'd just like to have the trees to attract deer and other animals to our yard. Any help would be appreciated :)
