We are building a new home and we wanted to put in blown insulation. but we wor wondering how much r-value is in an inch of blown insulation.

It all comes down to just what is the insulation you want to use. The R is marked on roll, pads, boards of foam. bags of blow in will say on the side just how many sq ft per bag for what R.

There will be tables printed right on the bag that states specifically the R/inch. I believe it changes depending on the installation method too (blown vs spread by hand), but that will be marked too if it's a factor.
I jotted down "40sqft R-19 (6") or 25sqft R-38 (9")" for the $7 bags of cellulose last time I was at lowes, if that helps you ballpark it at all.

It makes a difference, too, whether your talking blown fiberglass or blown
cellulose. The cellulose has a higher R-value than the FG.
