Why not just use car paint over an appropriate primer since that is what the gun is made for. Trying to spay a heavier bodied paint out of a conventional suction fed cup gun is an exercise in futility. Personally I would use one of those wagner electric airless cup setups that is made to spray latex. These work exeptionally well for this purpose. and get the paint on fast. If you want to use the #7 gun use car paint.
I rarely reccomend spending unecessary money but the wagner cup guns come in very handy for a lot of painting around the house. It is even good to paint the "whole" house with. Many years ago I was spraying someones house when all of a sudden the pump gave out and I couldn't get it fixed and the job had to be completed. I purchased a wagner and completed the house on time- almost 2 coats. I am still using that gun same today for projects just like yours.

I wouldn't use the binks on vinyl shutters. Since the shutters are some what flexable I don't know that auto paint would hold up all that well. I would recomend latex paint and making sure the surface is good and clean first.

I agree an acrylic will flex more with the shutters than an oil. Make sure to clean/scuff them first.

Out of curiosity. Does anyone really know if automotive paint is worse than latex or that it might not wear better for that matter. I mean has anyone actually tried it. I kinda think it would be ok. Once I get my shutters up and screwed in with at least 4 screws maybe 6 they really aren't flexing all that much. There are some pretty old cars that have never seen the inside of a garage that still look pretty good and the paint on them was no where near as good as the paint available today. I am not saying it will work I am just saying it might actually be better, and it will spray with the #7 gun while latex will not,and that was the question after all.

I have already said I would use the latex, but I have the sprayer for latex paint. If I had a lot of shutters to do and all I had was the #7. I would be using it with the car paint, if I didn't want to spring for the wagner. I hate to paint shutters by hand and I would probably be priming them before putting on 2 coats. I wonder how many shutters sneaky is looking to paint. It might be the determining factor. I have used single stage automotive enamel to paint many things. It is very easy to paint with and never really hardens completely. I am trying to figure out why it won't work.

Go easy on the laquer thinner as you don't want to melt the plastic. Hope it works well for you.
