hi all...
i am new to this particular forum.

i am currently remodeling my home, and am in the wiring phase (no drywall/insulation up), specifically for my cable tv.

there are going to be 5 catv outlets in total, and was wondering what is the best practice to do the run?

should i have each line run up to one splitter at the catv entry point? or should i pull one run through the perimeter and split it at each gem box?

any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks,
--j

Like k said, bring one run from the catv drop to a central point inside the house. Basement/attic/closet are good choices. Then bring all your runs from the rest of the house to this point. I would bring 2-3 separate cables from the outside of the house to the drop point. Cable is cheap and you'll never know what you'll need in the future.

I would also drop 3 runs to the SE corner of your attic with enought slack to get them to the roof in case you want to have HD satellite in the future. I would make at least 2 runs to where your tv will be as well.

terrific!! :)

thanks guys for the fast response...

yeah, that's what i was planning to do.
have them all feed to the punchdown in my basement
where the telco, electric, and network will reside....

do i just use a standard splitter there? or is there a special "booster"like device?

thanks again  !!
