Does this sound overdone? We are re-doing our entire house, and are finishing up in the master bedroom. We have created a 'sitting area' in the room--w/two comfy chairs, area rug, small table w/lamp--adjacent to the slider to the patio. We put vertical blinds as window coverings for privacy, but I also have sheers and drapes to match the bedding. I haven't put up the sheers or the drapes as yet because I'm not sure if it's too much stuff for the window--blinds, then sheers, then drapes. I plan on having the drapes draped in holdbacks on the sides--I was planning for a somewhat elegant look, but will this be overkill? I've gone fairly casual in the past, so any advice will help. Thanks
Annette

yes, overkill.
if you want "elegant", forego the verticals. they contradict that completely, unless your decor is very contemporary (and even then, you wouldn't put sheers over them). sheers under draperies that you can draw closed are elegant. sheers over any kind of shade or blind, is redundant and too busy of a look. the purpose of sheers is to diffuse light for a very soft flowy elegant look - you don't want the hard linear slats of blinds showing thru them.
that said, if you only want your draperies as tied back side panels, and not functioning draperies, go ahead & use the verticals at night for privacy & morning light control, but then ASAP draw those blinds completely open & hide them behind the drapery panels. so that during the day, all you'll see are the draperies & sheers.
