can anyone tell me what is invloved with repairing my ceiling that has started to droop
the ceiling tiled were removed to reveal that one of the beams has cracked

i want to re support the ceiling so i can put up new drywall

I would jack up the sagging beam and get it level and then add a 2X4[or6 etc]to the cracked lumber. Depending on how bad the crack is I would use as long a 2X as you can get in there. Once you are sure it is solid drywall away.

You can use bolts to sister the new beam to the cracked one.
