I am going to be painting a concrete floor & was wondering what the best way to prep the floor & get all the crap up to have a smooth surface to work with. It did have carpet, but animals took over the place. Is sanding the floor a good idea or am I just pulling at strings?

What is on there now? Laquer thinner will lift oils to the surface where they can be wiped with paper towels. Washing with strong laudry detergent gets most dirt and water soluble stuff. Orange cleaner works well on oily spots. Paint thinner loosens up many glues. Use muriatic acid to etch concrete then they have some nice concrete staining products.

I removed the carpet due to animal damage & decided to use concrete floor paint with SkidNot. Do I need to worry about getting everything off the floor? I bought some adhesive remover to take care of the padding glue. I'm just not sure about the rest ya know?

If you can feel what is on the floor most likely it will show up in the paint. If you decide to leave something on the concrete make sure it is bonded good or it may start to lift when paint is applied.

The final product and its durablility is only as good as the prep. Do thoroughly wash the floor. Sanding probably isn't neccesary. Do fill any cracks, unless they are hairline cracks.
Aside from carpet glue, I don't know what the "rest" is, ya know.
