I re-lit the pilot light and turned the knob to the "on" position and the burner came on. The problem is, that the burner goes out in less than one minute. I also noticed that the pilot light goes out as well. Any ideas as to what is going on? I have a 50 gal tank / Brand: A.O Smith model # FGR 50224.

Try and clean the pilot light real good up in its venturi there. So you have a good flame on the T/C there . Id also get a new T/C and put it in there at the same time.
