I am building a new home and would like some advice for pre-wiring for surround sound. Can anyone recommend a book or a video that shows step by step how to do this? Thank you. Just need a good starting point. Or maybe a website that explains how to do this.

Now this can be fun! I'm sure you can do a simple web search and find plenty of sites. For me, I ran monster cables inside BX cables to protect them(above the ceiling), leave some extra line, and used wall plates and speaker terminals for quick connects to your speakers. This way you don't have to keep messing around with the wires to ruin them. I did this for my rears. I'm not sure what type of system you're building, equipment, etc. But i'm sure everyone able to give some help here. Hope my two cents help.
