I rented a drum sander and an edger to refinish a wood floor. The drum took off the bulk but left the edge of the wood strips unsanded due to warping. The edger left black marks, which needed to sanded deeper. I had to sand all edges of strips by small hand sander. This was supposed to be a light sand and refinish. Now it's a strip all and stain and refinish. Doe's anyone have any suggestions for the first time sander, refinisher? Any Tips, preperations, etc?
This 4 hr. job has turned into 2 days. HELP!

Does anyone have tips on the proper use of a drum sander? Amount of pressure to be applyed, or speed during passes?

The National Oak Flooring Manufacturer's Association's technical manual for refinishing wood floors can be found at www.nofma.org. You will find the step-by-step instructions very helpful.
