I just bought my 73 house and I have a gas kenmore power miser 8 water heater. How do I turn it on? I had the gas hooked up, the gas furnace works great. I tried to go by the instructions on the side to start it up and that doesn't work. Sorry about my ignorance.

The detailed instructions are in print on the front of the water heater to light, shut down, or troubleshoot the water heater.
