I am set to buy a couch tomorrow, and have tried to find info on cats claws and the microfiber. They are declawed on the front but what I am worried about is when they jump up to set and use there back claws to jump off....will it leave holes everywhere or will it sort of seal over like a woven fabric would? The saleslady at the store looked to be brand new and couldn't tell me anything about microfiber just that they would treat the fabric for extra$$ but nothing about this...anyone with cats with any knowledge of this?

I purchased a microfibre lounge suite last november. I have 2 cats and they have destroyed both the old lounge suite and the sofa we have in the dining room. They do not however touch the "good" suite. Now this may be because they don't like the feel of it or, just as likely, the fact that I sat each down and informed them that I would personally rip their little legs off if they clawed it.

i believe it will be a hole that will "seal over." it won't produce a "pull" like a woven fabric would, because it's not woven.

Now, i hope I'm not jinxing myself, but we bought 2 microfiber sofas in April. Our cat is not declawed- she's 8 months old- and all she does is lay on the sofas. She likes clawing at the rug! So good luck and I say go for it!
