I live in DRY Colorado and was recently told that if I put new wood floors in my house (I want engineered) that I would need a whole-house humidifier. My understanding is that the humidifiers are for the winter months only ?? The summers are very dry here too-wont I need it then also? I'm trying to figure out if I need to install a humidifier right now (ANOTHER unexpected cost) or if I can proceed with floors and worry about humidifier in the fall ?? (By the way, I do not have any central air in the house) I heard about all this when a floor salesman told me about lower- quality prefinished floors "CHECKING" in this dry air. Does anyone out there live in Colorado with problem-free engineered floors and what kind are they (brand and product name) and do you use a humidifier and when ????????
This whole flooring thing is really confusing/concerning me- appreciate ANY advice.

Flooring performs best if temperature is maintained around 70 degrees year round and humidity between 35-55%. Humidify below 35 & dehumidify above 55. The only way to know the humidity level, which tends to vary from room to room, is with a hygrometer, which is sold where thermometers are sold.
