I have a Whirlpool dryer, model number LER4434AQ0.
It won't start, so I took the cycling thermostat, thermal fuse, and hi-limit thermostat out to "look at them". (Don't ask me why I thought this would accomplish anything.)
Anyway, I put them back in in their right spots, but I'm not sure if they are wired right. I did the best I could by looking at the schematic provided on the dryer, but I don't know.
For example, I know the components are wired to the right set of wires but I don't know if the terminals are on the right wires. Do the thermostats and thermal fuse terminals have to be exact? The cycling thermostat has 4 wires, 2 are violet, 1 is red, and 1 is red and white. The violets are paired up on their correct terminal "set" and the red and red/white are on the same "terminal set" on the cycling thermostat, but I'm not sure if the wires are on their exact terminals.
So, I don't know how to wire thermostats just right. But now when I plug in the dryer, when the timer is set on a setting other than off, it makes a grinding noise like something is turning inside it, but nothing works.

Hey,
Look at your wiring diagram again and look at the different temp setting and this should help you with the thermostat. As as the grinding noise,it may be coming from your timer. Why did you start to take it apart in the first place? :coffee:
