Hello,

I work with the public on a regular basis. And usually I know how to do most of the faux finishes they ask me about. Unfortunately the other day a customer asked me how to make a wall look old by using fake brick and plaster. I didn't know what to say because I am in the dark as to how this can be done. I've look in different places for directions but, I keep coming up empty. I know the store I work at carries the brick and the different types of plaster but, I think without directions or instructions I'm the one asking for help on this one. Please if anyone has any ideas or can explain to me how to do this I would really appreciate it a great deal.

Thanks,

I have seen the technique you're referring to, done with plaster (no brick) on 2 different episodes of Debbie Travis's Facelift. I'm not sure if we're allowed to post live links here (having just joined this forum), but if you go to her sight, to Episodes and then (episode finder in the column on the left) 'Glen's Kitchen' and point your mouse to the faux brickwork in the picture at the bottom of the page, you'll get a synopsis of how it was done. There's another episode that has a similar brick technique, but I can't seem to find it right now (it may even have been on Painted House).

I hope this helps.
