I need to run oval sheetmetal a/c ductwork (approx 3x10) from the second to first floor between the 2x4 wall studs on an exterior wall. Two problems arise:
the first, electrical wiring is running horizontally (center drilled)thru the same bays, is there an issue with pushing the wires back against the plywood or in towards the sheetrock providing there is enough slack, the second, how do the inspectors feel about cutting that much away from the wall plates to accomadate the ductwork. Thanks for all the info!

second to first floor between the 2x4 wall studs on an exterior wall.
First you dont run duct in and outside wall. There is no way this will pass for you to cut an outside plate of a home
how do the inspectors feel about cutting that much away from the wall plates to accomadate the ductwork.
Any of them I know will just say NO NO NO.

All you would get out of the duct like that is cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer.

Call and ask code .

Thanks for the advice Ed, I moved the planned ducts to the inside of a closet.
