View Full Version : No heat from ONE vent !
20 vents in house work fine- the one in ground floor bathroom has nothing ! I took off the vent (ceiling) and just stuck my hand in but thats about all I could do. Getting into the ceiling crawl space is not easy, but is that what has to be done ?? Could it be loose/disconnected somewhere ?? Know nothing about HVAC so if I'm supposed to check something, please be specific on what, where, and how !! Thanks guys

Hard to say just what here. Is there a damper in this pipe back by the trunk line or main duct? AS you said pipe is apart. Sometimes the air will pass a take off for a run.and then you have to put whats called a robber up in that takeoff. So first look for a damper in the pipe would look like a small metal handle on the pipe. Can try and close most of the registers in the home just to see if you get air then , dont let them that way. Turn the fan to fan on thats like AC speed does it have more air then?

Depending on the charactoristics of the bathroom you may need very little air in there.
Say that the bathroom is in the middle of the house and it just has a toilet and a sink in it, and the size of the room was 8' X 4' with 8' ceiling. I would guess it would take only 10 cubic feet of air per minuite. With that comming out of a 10" X 4" supply register it would only throw air for about 2' from the vent if that.
