I am a newbie to y'all. JVC, Model AV-3551S 35inch Color Monitor. Purchased 1992 works great but...
Recently, the picture AND sound has started cutting off and on by itself, usually when TV has not been on for a while (like overnight). However, the power stays on because, using the remote, I can channel up/down or power off/on (but this doesn't bring the picture/sound back on-that comes on by itself.)
My wife came up with the brilliant idea to "hit my fist" on the bottom front panel near the Power button. Well, don't you know, it works! (I remember doing this in the dark ages, which usually worked but eventually killed something in the set).
I recently had open heart surgery. I don't want to spend a lot of time getting up and down banging the thing. I can not bring in the set, it weighs about 170 lbs.
I contacted local JVC Auth Service, they said minimum $200 for only inspection/diagnosis.
I've been reading similar threads posted and thought I would post my problem for possible help related to my specific set/situation.
Thanks in advance.
