Flooring Tile - drilling in bathroom tile

Hello.

After tiling the bathroom, I am ready for the finishing touches and I need to hang up the towel rail. I am not sure what kind of hardware to use. Since the plug goes thru tile, backerboard into insulation between the studs, do I use plugs for hollow or solid wall? Also the tile is a very hard one. In order to make the required holes for plumbing while tiling, I actually had to use the diamond hole maker. Do I need to use a power drill with low speed, or can I use a regular drill with a drill bit for masonry?

Any suggestions are very much appreciated...

Use the hollow wall plugs. As far as drilling holes try to go through grout lines wherever possible, much easier to do. If not possible, go slow with the masonry bit. Put some duct tape on the wall tile to keep the drill bit from "walking" when starting the hole.

I take and awl and hammer very light just chip the glaze off where the hole goes. Best to just use a hand drill and drill the size hole you need for the screw plug. Power drill as slow as it will go or turn it on and off. You will go throught the tile like butter. Just use a regular drill bit

Hey the best is just a good old hand drill---- by hand. Just go as slow as you can with the drill.
