What is the best way to remove adhesive and plaster (the old wall) off of bathroom tiles I would like to reuse?

The most gentle approach would be to soak the tile in a bucket of water overnight to see if the stuff loosens up, may still need a putty knife for stubborn spots.
If that doesn't work, a belt sander will wear away the adhesive, just keep the tile clamped so it doesn't fly around the room.
Next up the chain would be a 4.5" right angle grinder with a turbo rim diamond blade (total under $100 at Sears, HD, Lowes). Use the flat side of the blade to grind down the material, use the clamp, goggles and do it outside, with the wind blowing toward that neighbor you dont get along with. :)

Thanks very much. If I want to try soaking a bunch of tiles, should I just use the water if it works or should I put anything in with the water? I have heard that hydrogen peroxide might work, but I'm not sure if it would speed up the process at all?

Dont know about the Hydrogen peroxide. try one tile and see if it works without harm to the tile surface.

I got the tiles to come clean with warm, soapy water. Thanks!
