Hi,
I recently purchased a Porter Cable Bammer gas powered finish nailer. I am doing some trim work in my town home and don't want to annoy the neighbors with the sound of a compressor running. So I thought the hoseless bammer would be a good option. Unfortunately the thing will not fire! I bought it new and unused just a few weeks ago and got a great deal on it so I don't want to take it back unless there is no fixing it. Apparently the bammer hasn't been manufactured in many years so I guess the one I got has been sitting of the store shelve for quite sometime now. I initially though that the fuelcells leaked over the past few years but I can smell a faint hint of gas when charging the gun. This lead me to believe that the ignition mechanism is just not sparking. However after talking to the tool guy down at the local hardware store I have learned that it might be due to the high altitude here in Colorado about 5000 feet. Does anyone have any ideas about some sort of adjustment I could make to correct the air/gas mix ratio in the cylinder?
Thanks

I own the Bammer. I will mention the only thing that comes to mind. The spark is from a pieozo (spelled wrong) device.
In order to get a spark, you must depress the body fast enought to generate a spark. If you depress it too slowly, it will never fire. And you must fire within a fraction of a second after it is depressed, otherwise the static charge will disapate and will not fire.
