I have a home built in 1927. There is a half wall in the garage (detached) made of cement. The cement on the wall is crumbling in places. The wall remains pretty thick at this point. Does anyone know what can be done to stop the crumbling and avoid having to replace the entire wall?

Given that there is no obvious problem other than the age of the wall, cleaning out the crumbling concrete and rebuilding the wall is probably the best course of action. I would start by cleaning out the deteriorating concrete and looking to see if there is underlying concrete block, brick, or reinforcement bar. How large and thick of an area is the problem?
