Howdy, I want to replace a 1960's fiberglass bathtub. There is about 5ft. of tile around the tub that's in excellent shape. Do I need to take all the tile out to do the job? Can this be handled by a novice home improver? Thanks So Much

Not sure how it is in there . But you could just take about one row of tile off around the tub and down the front of it. You should see how it is nailed in then and take it out.

surfdog, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
You will have to remove the first run of tile above the tub rim. There is a flange on the tub that may or may not be nailed to the studs. This "lip" goes all the way around the tub so tile removal is a must. You also need room to remove the tub once you get the flange (lip) exposed. DIY job it is. If you are careful you can reuse the tiles after cleaning them up and removing the old adhesive. Good luck.
