While the P231 unit was in operation, one of my grandchildren started playing with the remote. Now I'm unable to load any of my disks (will not advance beyond LOADING). Followed the "troubleshooting" instructions to no avail. After removing the cover, I observed the disk spinning up to operating speed and then slowing somewhat in an 8 second interval. It continues these "8 second" cycles for 2 minutes 45 seconds, after which the message "NO DISK" is displayed and the unit stops. I physically cleaned the laser with a Q-tip and alcohol. The sled seems to travel to the center upon start up. The unit is out of warranty and Samsung indicated the repair charge would be $79.95, so if I can't fix it myself, it's history. Any suggestions?

#1 don't get it repaired, you can get a new player for $80.

After reading numerous reviews (Amazon, CNET, etc.) it appears this unit is a lemon. Fails in the same way after one year of use (and infrequent use, at that). My next unit definitely WON'T be a Samsung.
