Our home was built in 1959 and has 3 ft. high brick siding all around it with aluminum siding above (the aluminum siding was not original to the house although I don't know when it was added). The brick on two sides of the house have active cracks in it. I'm worried about water and/or bugs getting in. My husband and I have more time than money so we'd like to try to fix this ourselves but don't know where to begin.
The brick is red and is so ugly due to fading and the cracking that we think we'd rather just take it off and put some aluminum siding over that space. Are we opening up the proverbial can of worms? Would we be better off to try to fix it? Did I mention it was UGLY...
We're also starting our landscaping projects this spring and I thought maybe we could recycle the brick into pathways or something of the sort.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thankyou.
