I have 2 fairly large wooden windows on the front of my house that both have some water leaks and water is leaking into my house into the walls.
The windows are 80 years old, and have suffered a lot of abuse due to my house always being a rental before I bought it. I pulled off some stucco patch last weekend, and behind the stucco patch is a huge section in the corner of the wood that is completely missing from termite damage.
I'm guessing that restoration is not up my alley since I have zero skills working with wood, and lack the proper tools. So, I'm thinking my best route is replacement of the windows.
Are there some good companies out there who re-build wooden windows? Both of my neighbors went with some local guys who do it out of their garage, but they haven't returned my phone calls and are kinda shady so I'm a bit reluctant to go that route.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, when I have them re-built for me, can they put double pane or more energy efficient and quiet glass? There is a lot of noise in my neighborhood, and those two front windows are the only ones in my house letting the noise in, all my other windows have been replaced with white vinyl. I'd do the front ones with white vinyl, but the HOA has dictated that the front facing windows match every one else's, which means they need to match exactly.

Rebuilt wooden windows... never heard of that. Sounds like high price custom wood working at custom shops. There are brand name replacement wood double pane windows that would make you proud to own. Go shopping.

You'll be much better off REPLACING the windows with new wood ones rather than trying to rebuild yours, like lugnut said. and the answer to the HOA is pretty straight forward -- they don't make 80 year old windows anymore -- these were as close as I could get!!
