I have a very small bathroom (5'6"X8'10") and it's in dire need of a redo.
What would be the materials which would be cheap and durable for the
walls and floors?

Tile would be the most durable and you can usually get good deals on closeouts at some retail tile stores. The prep work may be the deal breaker with tile. You need stable floors and solid walls and you have to use the right materials. Shortcuts will kill tile, dont know about vinyl, wood or paint.

What do you mean by cheap?
Figure out your budget and go from there.
Paint is $20-$30 a gallon,
wainscotting paneling is $20? a 4x8 foot section,
New faucet runs from $20 to $2000
A new sink top will run from $100 to $1000.
Do you have $100, $500, $2800?
Figure out what HAS to go, and what can just be repainted/refreshed.
If your sink is cultured marble with blue streaks running through it and pretty sparkles
from 1960 ,as ours was, consider replacement.
If it's white, and not cracked, you can probably still use it.
How about a photo or something else to go with?
