Hello all-

Brand new stacked washer/dryer. used it first time yesterday. Washed clothes fine. Dryer stopped and tripped circuit breaker after a minute of use. Now all it does is humm.
I press down the door switch, turn the dryer on and manually turn the drum and it starts running on its own. Try it again. Only humms again. What could be wrong??

Check your belt.

Maybe it's an electrical problem if it tripped the breaker. The motor probably has a starter coil that helps it get going. Then once it's turning, it goes through the regular motor circuit. Maybe this coil blew the first time you went to use it. Turning it by hand to get it going is basically what that starter circuit would do. If it doesn't have that first bit of help, it's just the motor trying to turn it, which it doesn't have enough power for, hence the hum. If it's new, I would call for warranty service and have them come fix it. You might tell them that some half-wit suggested the motor starter circuit may have blown.
