The Pear Tree in my backyard has been there for over 20 years. It has a fungus or moss type thing on it. I am afraid it is dieing. Do I call a tree surgeon or who?

Contact your local extension office or a licensed arborist. Sounds like it could be one of 3 - 4 things not all of which are harmful so you could have an unknown problem and the growth on your tree could be simple, harmless lichen. A knowledgeable person would have to actually see a sample of the growth. Also, are the tree leaves healthy looking, etc?
