I bought some gorgeous "wave petunias" that were totally bloomed for my deck, brought them home and in 1 day the leaves were all droopy and wilted looking. They are supposed to be so weather tolerant, any ideas why they did this? It was somewhat windy, but quite warm. How do you ever have them outside if they are that sensitive?

Wind (dehydration), warm (dehydration) and full bloom. You answered your own question especially if you transplanted these to your own soil beds or containers (which you should have that evening and then shaded for a few days so they could aclimate). Next time buy small plants (best not in bloom), keep watered (not drowned), transplant in a timely fashion, shade lightly for a few days, and feed periodically through the season. Best of luck - a retired commercial grower.
