This is not the first time I have replaced faucets and the accompanying sink drain... my frustration/question is why are the drain levers that attach from the faucet to the sink drain/stopper so difficult to hook up. I have spent so much time trying to get the lever with the ball on it into the little hole that works the stopper!!! And it still won't open/close the stopper properly....Am I missing something! I need help..

I usually put the stopper in and let it sit in the closed postion. Then stick the rod into the hole on the drain line and into the stopper while holding it on an angle upward on the outside of the drain. Pull the rod down and the stopper should open. I have never had a problem with one. Good luck.
You DO have to make sure the opening on the stopper is aligned with the rod hole before installing the rod.

I forgot to mention not tightening up any of the drain stopper linkages until you get it where you need it to be. Good luck.

Ok, I am making progress, stopper is better, just a bit tight to move. I will play with it some more tonight. I just need to go buy another supply hose as I think I over tightened it! and it is spouting water. But thanks for guidelines it helped a lot. Hope to finish it off tonight.

Still having problems with the stopper...when I tighten the connection with the ball on it the lever won't move, if I loosen it so that it moves up and down it, obviously, leaks!

It sounds like there is a washer missing in the nut that screws onto the drainpipe and holds the ball lever. If you still have it, look at the old one and see if there is a washer/seal in it.
