I have a barrell back chair I inherited from my grandmother. The back two legs have stem casters with rolling wheels. They are in desperate need of replacement (they are basically broken at this point). I would prefer not to have wheels on this piece of furniture, yet all the hardware I have found at my local Home Depot has been the screw in caster with felt bottom. This look does not complement the chair (the legs are a dark wood). Does anyone have any suggestions on options other than wheels (which I have been able to find)? The chair definitely needs the lift to the back of the chair that the wheels are providing. Also, this chair sits on a hardwood floor, not carpet. Thanks!

Are the back two casters on the chair screw in?
If they are then screw in "legs" of many different heights are available
These are usually slightly cone shaped, tapered to a foot to which a vinyl or felt pad could be attached
These legs are sold as sofa/chair legs
You'll want to try your local hardware store or woodworkers supply store
They will probably be unfinished and light colored, you may need to stain them to blend them in more
If the chair casters are not screw in, you may find modifying the screw in legs is an option
If you cannot find the legs anywhere, try a local furniture shop that carries sofas and upholstered chairs
They may have some repair parts and certainly can get them if need be
