I need advice on adding insulation to my attic. I have what I believe is commonly called rock wool insulation that has packed down. Several insulation contractors have quoted on adding fiberglass chips to bring insulation up to R-30. Several questions. Is it OK to mix these types of insulation? Also, with the addition, insulation will spill over and cover the 2x4s. This is OK? And finally, I have several places that have plywood down for storage in the attic(in the middle oh house). Both contractors say to just leave this alone. Are there any pitfalls here that I should be aware of and try to avoid? Thanks for your help.

You might check and put in the foam rafter vents so air can get over the insulation from out in the over hang of the home . Insulation I say mix it all you want . Might look into the celluiose kind. You could blow that in yourself.
