Ahhhh yes, the great forum. I hope someone out there has experienced this problem, however, I certainly do not with this upon you.
Heres the deal. I have a 25+ year old house; single level, no basement, poured foundation, two lines that meet before they hit the city sewer line. I have two toilets that stop-up nearly daily. One on one line, one on the other. I have a third toilet that never stops up and shares a line (up stream) with another culprit toilet that does.
I have heard about the low flush toilets and this maybe the problem. I have a young family (all boys) and this is for sure one of the problems. However, I have snaked the lines, just had the bottom part of main line replaced by the city (seperate issue), and have used several chemical varients to be sure the line is clear. So it is.
Other than the low flush toilets, could there be any other possible causes?
Thanks doityourselfers!

Hi Deltadad,
Welcome to the DIY Forums.
First... The low flush toilets are NOT the problem.
It appears that you possibly have a soft clog. In these type clogs the snake will punch a hole which will quickly seal back up. These can be caused by dirty lines(buildup restricts the flow through the pipes), ANYTHING flushed down the drain can hang up on the gunk that builds up on the walls.
I am suggesting you use Drain Care. This is an enzyme based drain cleaner that sticks to the clog and "eats " it. This will also help to clean the lines. Caustic drain cleaners eat their way through a TOTAL clog until it can pass. As soon as there is enough room for this to pass through, it leaves the rest where it is. If you have a partial clog, caustic drain cleaners will pass right on by. For a drain cleaner to work it must adhere to the clog and sides of the wall to be effective.
Drain Care will work on most anything EXCEPT tree roots. Drain Care is availiable at Home Centers most everywhere and runs about $8 for a multi-application bottle/box. It takes overnight when the drains are not used and may take more than one application depending on the serverity of the clog.
If this does not clear your clog, you may have to have a plumber come out and run a camera through the drains to find out what the clog is.
Good luck with your project.

Hello, These are a couple of possible reasons for the problem you
are having.
Pour a bucket into the toilet bowl. Does it flush?
If no plunge it or get a bowl auger to clear it.
If it flushes the problem may be a lime build up in the bowl.
Clear all the holes in the toilet bowl under the rim and the jet
in the bottom of the toilet. You can use a wire or small screw driver.
I use muratic acid. I pour the acid into the overflow tube in the tank.
I use about a half gallon.Let it set for about a half hour then flush.
Muratic acid is used in swimming pools to balance the PH.
I get it at Home Depot.
