Hi,
I own a few 3 family homes, and Iam learning to do alot of the repairs myself.
One question I have is wich is the best type of wax ring to use, there are several types with urethane, rubber, etc.which do you find best. These are all older homes with cast iron waste pipes. Thanks :)

I always use the ole plain jane wax rings that are the cheapest.

Never have I ever had problems with them.

In some states those horned rings are not code, but work in applications with brass rings with lead bends where the brass ring has broken from the lead.
