I'm installing a pedestal sink in the kid's bathroom (so will be pulled on like a jungle gym). It is in the bottom floor so the bathroom tile site on concrete.

I have put in a wood backer screwed to the wall studs to screw the sink to. Couple of questions on the pedestal and "caulking"

1 - Am planning on screwing the pedestal to the cement floor as I don't think adhesive will be enough, does that seem right?

2 - The sink just sits on top of the pedestal which doesn't seem like enough, should I adhesive caulk the sink to the pedestal?

3 - Once the sink is screwed to the wall I want to "seal it" so that water splashing doesn't get behind the sink against the drywall/painted area, is there a particular kind of caulk to use for this?

Thanks in advance

The pedestal should come with a screw hole so you can secure it to the floor. Just keep in mind if you change out the sink in the future and keep the floor you'll have to get a new unit that hides the hole (should not be a problem). If the sink is anchored to the wall and the pedestal is anchored to the floor you should be just fine. That should stand up to some abuse from your kids!

Hammylink,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm guessing that you are suggesting that I don't need to use any adhesive between the sink and the pedestal, is that right?
