I know that it's important to have a woodburning fireplace chimney inspected/cleaned each spring, but I'd be interested to know how often a gas burning fireplace chimney should be looked at or cleaned. Is it even necessary at all? Doesn't gas burn pretty clean?
Thanks for any insight......

It should burn clean if set right. Can be like a gas furnace need to be looked at every other year. Make sure it does burn right. Venturi in the burners and the burners should be looked at now and then .

To add to Ed's advise IF you turn your pilot off during the summer months then an inspection for birds/bees nests would be a good idea. Here in Colorado I've found both on several occasions.
