I purchased a home that the owners did not know the codes for the alarm system and I need to be able to reset the code so I can program my personal code. Any help?

This is an ademco based system. Disconnect the battery, then disconnect the ac power. Power back up. Within 50 seconds press * + # on the keypad simultaneously. This will kick the panel into program mode. Enter #20. The keypad will read back the installer code 1 digit at a time.

Look at the main chip and pc board in the cabinet. The numbers will tell us which ademco model this is equal to. Then we can help you find more specific instructions.

Did you disconnect the battery and the AC power? Without doing that, and pressing * + # within 50 seconds of restoring AC power, you are just activating the panic keys.

This _is_ an ademco type system?

There is a setting that defeats local programming on some of the older ademco models. FA dealers seemed to use it more often than others. The last thing you can try is to power the thing down, and have a helper hold * + # _while_ you restore AC power. If it doesn't jump to program mode, then the download software was used to lockout all local programming; in which case all you can practically do is replace the control and keypad(s).
