I've purchased a 1954 thomasville dining room table and chairs that has some dull marks and rings. I figured the finish was laquer and thought I should clean, then polish our newly purchased table. I foolishly used murphy's oil soap and it left dull marks where the cleaner hit the table.
how can I spruce up the table without refinishing?
What are these dull marks?
Can I spray on additional coats of laquer?
I've read about baking soda past and mayonnaise for various finishing ills, but don't see an explanation of how these work and what defects call for what treatments.
thanks for any input!
