My son sanded my wooden table that I was going to finish and he sanded it against the grain. How would I repair the Table. Would I use a palm sander to get the marks out? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Just use the same grit he used, or courser, with the grain until only your marks show, then progress grits as usual until it's as smooth as you like.

Sanding across the grain isn't always a no-no. It removes material most rapidly, by lifting grains out. You just don't want to finish the surface like that.
